- The Gym is Overrated for Fat Loss – Your Abs are Made in the Kitchen. Stop doing endless sets of crunches and hours of cardio. That won’t give you abs. Especially not if your idea of good nutrition is: “I’ll chug a protein shake…bro!” without even knowing how many calories you ate that day.
- Want to grow muscle? Focus on building strength – Biggest misconception in training is, that you need to train with insane volume and use all of the isolation lifts (bicep curls) doing strip sets and drop sets, giant set and whatnot, in order to grow optimally. That will only waste your time and make you tired. Choose two lifts per body part. One compound lift and one isolation lift. Focus on getting strong on these. You’ll grow like crazy with 40min of gym time. Thrice per week.
- Mastering the Caloric Deficit = The “Holy Grail” of Fat loss – We all know, that in order to lose fat you need to be in a caloric deficit. Which simply means, you’ll have to eat less calories, then your body needs to maintain it’s current weight. Everybody and their brother knows this and has the technical knowledge for fat loss. However….Why are so many people still fat, despite having the technical knowledge to get leaner? Because they have NO CLUE how to stay in that caloric deficit for weeks and months on end without binging. They have no clue how to manage hunger levels and how to deal with special occasions (birthdays etc.).
- Ditch Supplements – Eat Real Foods – The sub-title is descriptive enough, but 99% of supplements simply don’t work and are designed for one thing and one thing only: To make the seller richer. Buy more real food instead of popping pills and snortin’ powders.
- 80% of Fitness Success is a “Head Trip” – Only 20% of getting lean, strong and healthy is about the technical knowledge. What to eat, how to train etc. The other 80% of success are made up of your habits and overall commitment to this lifestyle. The sad thing is….I, and no one else for that matter, can light that fire for YOU. You’ve got to have it yourself. So, find you “why”. Why MUST you get lean? Not “should” but MUST. Must you avoid diabetes from slowly killing you? Do you want to see your kids grow up and be able to play with their kids when you’re older?
- You don’t need a Gym to Build Muscle and Look Younger – As red-blooded teenagers, me and my younger brother watched Arnold’s classic movie “Conan the Barbarian”. After watching that movie, we were so hyped up about training, that we bugged our parents to let us join a gym. Problem was, it was too expensive for my parents for us to join one. So, we started going to the local school yard and trained endless sets of dips, push ups, pull ups and all kinds of calisthenic exercises. Over a period of six months, we grew like weeds without even getting close to commercial gym.
- You Don’t Need to Train Six Days a Week to Look Amazing – Many people have the misconception that fitness must be a full time job. Sure, you need to change a lot of habits to make this stuff work, but you should never sacrifice other parts of life for this “fitness stuff” (as long as you’re already pretty lean and healthy). Training 3 times a week is more than enough for most people, to completely transform their bodies (if the nutrition is dialed in).
- Getting a Six-Pack is Simple – No crunches. No special bosu ball, ab exercises. No keto diets. No extreme willpower ort hunger. Just an intelligently planned and violently executed nutrition plan (see #1 and #3) that you can stick to for (almost) ever.
